Was your pregnancy planned or a surprise?

Planned

If planned, how long did you try to conceive?

Four months. We got pregnant a lot quicker than we ever expected.

How did you share the news with your partner, family, and friends?

We told close family first then after we passed the first trimester we announced on Facebook for extended family and friends.

Pregnancy and birth story

Which was your favorite trimester?

The second trimester, i loved feeling her kick in my belly.

What was your pregnancy MUST HAVE?

The only thing i craved was Hot Cheetos with nacho cheese.

Did you find out the gender?

Yes

Were there any complications throughout your pregnancy?

I was considered high risk due to my weight and Myah having Down Syndrome.

Did you go into labor naturally or were you induced?

Naturally

How long were you in labor?

20 hours

Did you get an epidural or go all natural?

I did my best to go all natural. I stopped dilating at 9 1/2 centimeters and couldn’t deal with the pain anymore so i got the epidual after 16 hours of being in labor.

What was the best and worst part about labor and delivery?

The worst part was knowing I had a higher risk of having a still born. I was worried the entire time.

Were there any complications with your delivery?

There were no complications.

Give us the stats!!

Myah was born at 11:30 am she was 18 1/2 inches long, 7 pounds 3 ounces, and she indeed was a baby girl.

What was the hardest thing about the first few weeks of motherhood?

Our first few weeks were the hardest. Myah was in the NICU for a week after birth and Myah’s other mom (Angelica) was also admitted into the hospital for emergency surgery. My schedule for the first few weeks consisted of pumping every two hours and going from one hospital to the next.  It was exhausting.

What is the best advice you received as a new mom?

The best advice I’d say I received is that our life will be exactly as we dreamed even though we would have a child with Down Syndrome.

What is your best advice for expectant or new moms?

It’s okay to ask your partner for help. Don’t assume they don’t want to help because most times, they do.

Is there anything else you’d like to share about your journey to motherhood?
Our journey started off hard. We started trying to have a baby in May of 2015. We decided that we would let Angelica try first as she is the older one and unfortunately she had two miscarriages before we both decided it was time to stop and try myself. We tried myself and I got pregnant right away. Everyone has bumps in the road and I’m beyond glad everything worked out this way because we truly had our dreams come true.
